Bausch & Lomb Hastings Triplet Magnifier

Truly the finest magnifiers Bausch + Lomb has to offer, Hastings Triplet Magnifiers incorporate three separate lenses, bonded together to form a compound lens to provide sharp, very distinct magnified image without distortion − even under 14 and 20 power magnification.

The sides of the lenses are coated black to reduce glare when using. The swing-away, nickel-plated case protects the lens and also serves as a handle.

  • Incorporates 3 separate glass lenses, bonded together to form a compound lens.
  • Sometimes these are referred to as ‘Jeweler’s Loupes’.

It was smaller then it appears in the photo, but I didn't mind, because I bought it for viewing ancient Roman & Greek coins; which, are usually very small. I am very happy with the quality of the optics. There is a good field of view and the image is very crisp. This loupe lives up to the Bausch and lomb's high reputation for quality lenses. The size allows you to wear it around your neck on a leather strap or lanyard very comfortably. I would recommend for ancient coin collecting.

Nice little hand lens. Bought it as a graduation present for a cousin majoring in geology. I have one like it and have used it for years. If yo want a bigger hand lens, get a 10x. But this one does a great job.

This is my first Triplet and was purchsed when I lost my Coddington. The triplets seem to be considerable smaller althought I must say as the power goes up the lens size goes down. A fact of optics! Its good stuff but nothig like the 14x Coddington that I lost after 50 years.

The lense is perfect. It really is a triplet 14x.The frame folds into a brushed stainless housing. I think this 14x is a good compromise between a small size, large clear image. Not to big, not to small. It has a focal length of 1inch to 12inches with 20/20 vision. The lense is the size of a american 10 cent coin. I love it. Its clear and sharp, no discoloration. I use it to read partnumbers on chips 1/4 the size of rice and writing that is invisable to me.

This is a wonderful loupe! At the moment I am using it to help identify monarch butterfly eggs on milkweed and to further examine the resulting larva. To those complaining about the size, of course it is small! It is fully functional and the field of view is true all the way to the edges. The viewing portal is actually the same size as the 10x! My only complaint is the difficulty I have in opening it. I can only assume it will get easier as time passes. In every other way, I really appreciate the quality of this loupe.
